Before yoga found me, I had been working in an office nine to five for years. I had given yoga exactly zero thought until I stumbled into my first class. I went on a whim with a friend because we had agreed, over a glass of wine, that it was a 'great' idea.
My first class was a challenge to say the least, but I loved it. I loved the weird shapes and breathing. I loved how kind the people were and how I felt in my body and in myself afterwards.
I just kept going back to class, started reading and practicing in my own time. Naturally there came a point where I wanted to know more and didn't know where to look really. That's where yoga teacher training came in.
I completed my initial 200hr YTT with CYS Glasgow at Merchant City Yoga. Since then, I've taught over 1000 hours of yoga. I've had the privilege to practice and learn from some amazing teachers - completing further training in yin yoga, restorative yoga, yoga for kids and Ayurveda massage.
For me, yoga is practical and very much a practice for today. It is so much more than what happens on a yoga mat. It's in my relationships, it's how I choose to act, respond and be. Yoga teaches me to be myself first and then give others the space to be themselves.
In teaching and sharing yoga, I hope to open the door to possibility, discovery and change for others with the same care and compassion as it was opened for me.
